Team Member Profile – Introducing Aidan Mutzelburg
Having team members who are passionate about what they do, and the results they achieve for our clients, is so pleasing. Aidan has a meticulous approach to his projects, getting great joy when he sees how happy the owners are when their boat is detailed and finished immaculately. Aidan tells us a little bit more about his role and what he gets up to in his spare time.
How long have you been with DBM?
I’ve been an inhouse detailer at DBM for a little over 2 years now.
Tell us a little about your background.
I’ve been in the marine industry for just over 5 years, I originally started with Horizon Yachts Australia where I learnt what it takes to offer a quality exterior detailing service.
Why did you join DBM?
I was with HYA for 3 years and had learnt a lot, but I just felt it was time to move on and was looking for a new opportunity when Mel mentioned they would have a position for me if I was interested.
What do you enjoy most about your role at DBM?
I really enjoy working on the gelcoat exteriors of the boats, especially compounding and buffing. It allows me to zone out and focus purely on the job at hand, then when I’m finished you can look back at the job and get a great sense of satisfaction. I also like working outside and I’m always moving around and not just stuck in the same place.
What has been the highlight of your role to date?
Working on the 100ft Horizon “Elysian” would have to be the highlight for me so far. It was great working on such a large project where I spent a lot of time wet sanding paint, compounding and waxing the hull and topsides. I also worked on the teak refurbishment too, which was a great experience.
What do you do when you’re not working?
I enjoy going to the beach, eating out and going to the movies. The movie “Inter Stellar” would have to be my favourite movie so far.
